La Fonda coffee or large end table designed by Charles and Ray Eames and manufactured by Herman Miller. This series was designed for the La Fonda restaurant, designed by Alexander Girard in 1962. This series has remained an iconic Eames work.
This table dark gray slate top that is a particularly attractive element, the top surface left rough and naturalistic while the edges and underside are honed.
It is raised over beautifully molded and chromed steel legs raised on original plastic glides. Labeled with the early Herman Miller disc label, these are no longer manufactured.
This example is in very nice original condition, the the chrome in much better shape than is typical. There are some small areas of wear, though the chrome is generally in good shape. The top is also in very nice condition with no chips, defects or stains. The legs have some areas that chrome finish has been lost but it does not detract from the overall look.
It retains an original black rectangular Herman Miller label, identifying its production as post-1971.
