Cast iron candleholder designed by Jens Quistgaard. Known as the Dansk Spider, it is made of cast iron and this candlestick holder is a charming addition to any table scape or entryway. Made in Denmark, the candle holder has spaces for twelve candles and is marked "Dansk Designs" and "Denmark" to the underside.
Quistgaard began his career as an industrial designer. He was the head of Dansk Designs from 1954 - 1980s. His designs of kitchen and tablewear became synonymous with Scandinavian Modern design and found their way into millions of homes in the USA, Europe and Japan. His work is held in museum collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne.
